I just uploaded my first ever tutorial video onto our YouTube channel!
About The Video
In this video I attempt to teach what a seam allowance is. It’s such a simple concept, but beginners can easily get overwhelmed by all the bits and pieces they need to learn before they start their first sewing project.
Once I define what a seam allowance is, I go on to explain that seam allowance measurements can vary depending upon the project, location and even the company that produces the product.

A Bit Behind The Scenes
I attempted to teach what should be a very simple topic, and somehow found it kind of difficult to talk about. Sometimes it’s hard to explain basic concepts, especially when you are nervous. Strange since off camera I had no problem what so ever explaining what a seam allowance is.
You can clearly see how nervous I was talking in front of the camera. Hopefully after filming a couple of videos I will relax a bit more and present better. I had to cut my video clips short since I kept saying the wrong things, or stumbling over my own words.
I spent over a week just learning how to use Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects! I’m still not that good… I’ve learnt the essentials of how to add video clips to a timeline, how to trim the videos and finally how to add basic titles and video thirds (my name that scrolls underneath the video when I’m introducing myself). I even learnt how to adjust basic audio as all the shots of me talking had a lot of echo that needed to be removed.
